Probably everyone heard in childhood about the hero Ilya Muromets, who possessed incredible strength and had a kind heart.  Some historians suggest that the hero was buried somewhere around the Boldyni Hills in Chernihiv.  The Boldyni Hills is the largest tumulus necropolis of the pre-Christian times: the excavations of the Hulbishche tumulus of 8.5 meters high was excavated by archaeologists. It was during the scrutiny of this burial site that archeologists found a sword of 126 centimeters of total length. According to weapons specialists, in order to wield such a sword, a warrior must have been physically strong and had a height of at least 215 centimeters. This finding is confirmed by other things: military armor of a large size. These results of archeological researches gave reason to believe that Ilya Muromets was buried in Chernihiv!
There are a lot of ancient burials which are preserved on the territory of the Boldin Hills, for example, the grave of a famous writer MiKhailo Kotsiubynskyi. Moreover, we can find the arbor that was built in 1911 to commemorate the visit of Emperor Nicholas II, as well as a memorial toin honor of the soldiers who died during the battles of Chernihiv in the Second World War (1941–1943).
