At first glance, the mansion is hidden from the human eye among the high-rises, but if you look closely, you can see a fantastic oasis in the middle of a stone town. It was a cozy office for the classic of Ukrainian literature, the great humanist Mykhailo Kotsyubynsky. The writer bought the mansion in 1898 when he moved from Vinnitsa to Chernihiv. It is still preserved that shape of building that it had in the lifetime of famous writer. Nowadays museum consists of the memorial house of the writer, the modern building of the literature exposition and the true decoration of this place is the Kotsyubynsky Memorial Garden.
This is where the writer lived with his family in the summer of 1898 and spent the last 15 the most creative years of his life. Chernihiv period was the most productive and creative during the civilian life of author. The best works of classic are "Intermezzo", "Apple Blossom", "Heavy Price", "Praise of Life", "Fata morgana", "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors", which brought the author worldwide fame, were written right here in the ancient city of Siversky.
Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi settled in this house in 1898 and lived until his death in 1913. Today the estate houses the main exposition of the Kotsiubynskyi Chernihiv Literary Memorial Museum-Reserve. The rooms recreate the interiors in which the writer lived with his family, which gives an opportunity to imagine his life, tastes and preferences. Famous literary "Saturdays" were held in the living room of the house. Among the writer's guests were Borys Hrinchenko, Volodymyr Samiilenko, Mykola Voronyi, and Mykhailo Zhuk. Pavlo Tychyna, Vasyl Ellan-Blakytnyi and Arkadii Kazka began their careers from literary "Saturdays".
Behind the house is a garden, preserved as much as possible in the form in which it was during the life of the writer. In particular, there are trees in the garden, which were personally planted by Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi
