This commemorative sign is located in-situ of the first Chernihiv Hotel "Tsargrad". It was a one-story wooden house with a tavern and guest rooms.
Russian poet Alexander Pushkin stayed at the hotel twice. His visit was wrote down: "In the morning, when I entered the hall, I saw in the adjacent cafeteria room a young man who was going along the counter and who, in style of walking and wearing clothes was looked like a footman."
At the end of February 1846, Taras Shevchenko and Alexander Afanasyev-Chuzhbynsky stayed at the hotel. Mykola Gogol, Lev Tolstoy and Maxym Gorky also stopped here.
