The post office building

At the beginning of the nineteenth century (1805), the house of a post office was erected on the territory of the Dytynets (Rampart). This is a two-storeyed brick building with a wide staircase leading to the entrance. Over the time, it turned out to be inconvenient for the Dytynets (Rampart) that the post office was located right here. According to historian Volodymyr Rudenok, couriers were constantly arrived and prevented calm life in the ancient part of the city.

Later, a treasurer's office was erected here, then a library and, after the war, a canteen for river port workers were housed here. Then Chernihiv couple married here, later, a bank was located in this building. Nowadays, the premises are empty and they are preparing for a modern museum of Chernihiv history.
