Chornobyl Tragedy Day and International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Radiation Accidents and Disasters

April 26 is the Day of the Chornobyl Tragedy and the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Radiation Accidents and Disasters, introduced in 2003.

This day forever changed the lives and destinies of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians.

The main facts about the Chernobyl tragedy:

• The Chernobyl accident had irreparable medical, environmental, economic and humanitarian consequences.
• There was a planetary catastrophe - ¾ Europe was polluted.
• The leadership of the RS to the last hid the scale and consequences of the disaster.
• Such a catastrophe mobilized our diaspora, which organized a series of demonstrations and inquiries to the governments of the world.
• After the accident, significant environmental and national-democratic movements took place at the station on the territory of Ukraine.
