Tarnovskyi House is a historic building in city of Chernihiv, which is known as the premises of the Chernihiv Regional Youth Library. A stone-built, one-story, T-shaped house is close in architecture to historicism. At the end of the XIX century there was an orphan craft school in this building and it was located on the outskirts of Chernihiv.
Following the acceptance by the Chernihiv Authority according to the testament of Tarnovskyi (junior) in 1897 his unique collection - works of art, manuscripts, including Taras Shevchenko works (758 items were dedicated to Taras Shevchenko, including about 30 autographs of works, 285 drawings and paintings), the authority raised the question of their storage location for the heritage. That is why Chernihiv Museum of Ukrainian Antiquities of Tarnovskyi was opened in the building in 1902. Later, in 1980, Chernihiv Regional Library for Youth was opened in this building.
