Who among us does not like to make a wish? All of us know many signs for good luck, but only in Chernihiv you can make a wish that will come true! It is due to the mysterious "stone of desires" located on one of the walls of the amazing beauty of the Piatnytsia Church.
Piatnytska Church is an Orthodox church located in Chernihiv. It was built in the late XII - early XIII centuries. At the Chernihiv post near the bazaar at the cost of merchants. The Church was named after St. Paraskeva Piatnytsia who was the patron saint of commerce and merchants. There is an assumption that the church was built at the expense of Prince Igor - the hero of “the Lay of Igor's Warfare”. According to another version, the church was built at the expense of rich merchants.
After the war the church was completely destroyed but in the ashes and stones, Petro Baranovsky saw the Cossack Baroque monument. He began the restoration works and completed them only in 1962. An interesting fact is to fulfill the works they made special bricks of six types according to the samples and the size of the ancient plinth, the samples of which were found during excavations.
In the 1670s a nunnery appeared around the church, which spanned until 1786. It was closed with reference to the order of Catherine II about the secularization of church lands.
