It is suggested that the main residence of Hetman Pavla Polubotka was in Chernihiv in the territory of the Dytynets (Rampart). But he and his family could live in the outskirts of Chernihiv. The plan of the city at the beginning of the eighteenth century contains information about his huge mansion above the Stryzhen River.
When Polubotko died, the estate passed to several Chernihiv elders for a while. In 1776 the manor was purchased to the Chernihiv bishop and then he arranged a seminary there. Some of the premises were remodeled. When the Stryzhen River, freezes up, battles between seminarians and students of a real school unfolded on it.
In these walls studied Ilia Buyalskyi, who became a well-known surgeon: he was called to Alexander Pushkin after a fatal duel. The poets Pavlo Tychyna, Vasyl Ellan-Blakytnyi, choral figure Hryhorii Verovka were studied here.
The Polubotok estate was rebuilt after the war and today, it is the central building of the military hospital.
