This monument literally does not stand still.
This legend of the city is more modern. When the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Park was founded in Chernihiv in 1956, a monument to the hetman was erected there. At first the figure of the hetman was turned with his back to the park and to the Piatnytska Church. According to the project of the Chernihiv architect, he should stand facing the church, but since the monument was built in Soviet times, he was placed with his back to the temple, facing the borders of Russia.
In 2017, the park was reconstructed, during which the monument was unfolded, and now it looks at the park alleys in accordance with the author's plan. It is also interesting that for some time the monument had a golden color because some foreman decided that "it will be better that way".
